Mini-LP recorded in first half of 2015, to introduce new label "Jackie Brown" in a right way!

Jackie Brown, as it's name suggests, draws inspiration from the lead role of the same named movie from 1997 and her immpecable taste in all soul, jazz and funk related music. Sountrack of the movie was one of the first actual records I ever bought, and it blew me away which is not a surprise, considering it featured classics from Bobby Womack, The Delfonics, Bill Withers and Minnie Riperton.

This mini-lp opened with intentionally obvious sampling of Willie Hutch's "Theme for Foxy Brown" along with classic dialogue from the movie High Fidelity (2000) to set the tone, not just for this record, but for the whole label.

Rest of the record digs deep into my funk and soul record collection, with small Curtis Mayfield chop on Thieves In The Night, while Odds Against Tomorrow uses so many llittle samples that wouldn't be recognizable even to the artist of the sampled record itself.

Something Ain't Right uses vocal chops from one of the best cuts of the millenium Kelis and Andre 3000 Millionaire, while the other sample came from one of my favorite composers ever - but will not reveal the source this time.

Record ends on a special note, a tribute to my late father Ivan with April 9th.

For the beats and samples I couldn't run away from using both of my MPCs (60 & 2000xl), while bass came from the Fender and additional harmonies from Rhodes. While some of the previous stuff went straight to DAT,. this was sequenced in Ableton.

Mastered as always by Emanuel Geller, who done an amazing job. exactly how I wanted it.
